Google Obscure Tricks!

Google is a very powerful search tool. Many use it, but there's a lot many doesn't know about searching with Google. Here are some tricks that might be useful to you!

First, you can get the local time anywhere by asking it to Google. Just enter "what time is it" and the location, e.g, "what time is it jakarta"

Second, you can track flight status, though this is only usable to flights from several Airlines, such as Delta. Just enter the airline and flight number into the Google search box.

You can also convert currency, metrics, bytes, and more. Simply enter, "x in y", e.g, "10 USD in AUD".

Also, Compare items with "better than" and find similar items with "reminds me of".

More tricks! Use Google as a free proxy! Just enter "cache:the website", e.g, "cache:todayitem.blogspot.com"

Searching for a product, but don't want to see some sites? You can Remove affiliate links from product searches, clear 'em out by stacking up the "-site:ebay.com -site:bizrate.com -site:shopping.com" operator. Or, the alternative is use Give me back my google

You can also Find related terms and documents with the operator "~", like "~money"

This one's good, you can find music and comic books by using a combination of advanced search operators that specify music files available in an Apache directory listing, you can turn Google into your personal Napster. Go ahead, try this search for Nirvana tracks:

-inurl:(htm|html|php) intitle:"index of" +"last modified" +"parent directory" +description +size +(wma|mp3) "Nirvana"

(Sub out Nirvana for the band you're interested in) The same type of search recipe can find comic books as well.

Google can also recognize faces, simply add "&imgtype=face" to the end of your image search to just get images of faces, without any inanimate objects.

For those of you who use UPS, just enter your tracking number to Google, and it'll track your shipping for you

Google can also check out the weather for you! Check it by inputting weather “your zip code” in the search box.

Finding eBooks? Get Google to help, type

“title of book” filetype:pdf

My favorite is definitely this one. You can search for cameras all around the world, and control the unsecured ones. Just enter "inurl:"ViewerFrame?Mode=" -inurl -intitle" to the search bar, search, and voila!

And here's a reference on advanced operators on Google
