Gifts w/ Strings Attached?

Parents often gives their child gifts, but should they ever come with strings attached such as from this one? A contract just for a phone? And around half of the points are moot!

Dear Gregory

Merry Christmas! You are now the proud owner of an iPhone. Hot Damn! You are a good and responsible 13-year-old boy and you deserve this gift. But with the acceptance of this present comes rules and regulations. Please read through the following contract. I hope that you understand it is my job to raise you into a well rounded, healthy young man that can function in the world and coexist with technology, not be ruled by it. Failure to comply with the following list will result in termination of your iPhone ownership.

Remember names! How do I remember people's name?

I meet new people frequently, and you know what? I have a lot of problem in remembering names! Some that I really admire are easy to remember, but most are not.
Most of the time, I'm way too busy thinking of how should I present myself, what can I say to make a good impression, what am I doing with my hands, yadda yadda, that I forgot to remember the most important thing about a person! Their name!
So without further ado, here are a couple of tips in remembering names!

  • Repeat the name
  • Ask a question using the name
  • Come up with an association
  • Use your visual memory
  • Link the visual cues to an outstanding feature
  • Remember even more than the name
  • Review
Those are tips from AskMen's Chester Santos But for me, I find that the best way to remember someone's name is to use it in sentences, asking them something, or origins of their names are a good way! Then again, there are a lot of times where I missed the first time they say their name, that's when I ask them how to spell it, to show that I'm interested in their name and I care about them. The downside is, I kinda look stupid if their name is an easy one, such as John, or Mary. If it's a business meeting, it's usually easier to remember names because:
  • The person is in a business relationship with you, thus you need him/her for something, making him/her quite important
  • Business card exchange!

Back up!

Well, at the end of 2012, someone posted a comment on this blog, and that made me check back here. I have to say I'm impressed, there's still some visitors here! I'm now encouraged to post stuff here again thanks to the small amount of visitors, so you can expect more stuff to come!

The REAL Iron Man

Wang Kang, who works for a telecom company in Shanghai, you spend three months making a costume out of high density foam, wires, and tubes; then you wear it into the office and frighten the Hell out of your coworkers. Kang's costume is extremely detailed. Not only that, but it weighs approximately eight stone (112 lbs), which means that walking around in the outfit must've been insanely uncomfortable. According to Wang, "no colleagues knew my mission. Some of them froze there seeing me approach. Some were even screaming in fear."

The costume, which is of the Mark I armor, is promised to be the first of many from the young man. Wang wanted to work on the Mark I so he could refine his skills and then work on a Mark II outfit. While photos and videos of the costume in action have been circulating the Web to a ton of acclaim, at least a few folks were less than amused with Wang's costume. Apparently his supervisors demanded that he be escorted off company property by a security guard.
