Give Japan Recovery Efforts Without Getting Scammed

Consumer Reports suggests that much of the same advice given after the Haiti and Gulf disasters holds true with Japan. You'll have more assurance if you stick with established charities with a record of service in that particular area, rather than agencies with possibly confusing or deceivingly specific names.

It's worth noting, too, that giving directly to Japan isn't the only way to help. As some will argue, giving money to relief organizations in non-earmarked funds allows help to reach Japan without letting excess money be spent inefficiently. However you give, do so with a bit of pause before you hit send.
