Windows 7 Overtaking XP
Like finally, Windows XP is defeated by Windows 7 as the top operating system in the US, according to the latest stats from StatCounter. Today, Windows 7 reached 32.49% share, while Windows XP is only slightly behind at 32.43% percent. The data was collected using visitor stats from over three million websites.
In comparison to Microsoft's 2 winners, Windows Vista is slowly dying. It never even had a chance in beating Windows XP, while Windows 7's market share is steadily increasing.
Even though Windows 7 is the victor of market share, it is still only on the North America market. Worldwide, Windows 7 still has quite a lot of catching up to do at 31.37% and XP at 47.04%.
Microsoft has had a difficult time overthrowing it's own Windows XP from the throne of worldwide OS. One important factor that caused this is the unwillingness for people to use vista, and stick to the good old XP. Of course, the great popularity of XP in developing countries is also overwhelming!
