NGP - Next Generation Portable

Sony's NGP, the successor to PSP - New Handheld Gaming System

Release Date : Unannounced
Review :
The NGP will have a 5 inch OLED with 960 x 544 resolution touchscreen, twin cameras, twin speakers, microphone, 3G+wifi, GPS, Front and rear touch pads, and 2 analog sticks. It also has a quad-core Imagination Technologies PowerVR graphics processor too. It will also be able to play games from Android, and android will be able to play NGP games. The NGP will adopt the trophy system similar to that of the PSN. Unfortunately prices are yet to be announced.

Sony has declared that the NGP will have graphical capabilities as good as the PS3. Of course, there are a lot of doubts about this, a handheld device with graphics as good as PS3? Really? But this trailer below pretty much dispelled those doubts over whether the NGP will be able to have a graphic capabilities as good as the PS3.

According to Sony, the NGP will last for 4-5 hours usage before it has to be charged again. Seems like <5 hours battery life is the trend for new handheld gaming systems. The 3DS by Nintendo is also being announced as having 3-5 hours battery life. The bad news is, NGP is bragging about the 3G mobile connectivity features, BUT, it has been announced that this will not be free. Meaning, there will be contracts with mobile phone providers involved.Comparison between the 3DS and NGP:
