My Computer is Slow! - Windows Solution

The most common problem for anyone that's using a computer is simple, that is :

My Computer is slow! What should I do?

Well first, check the bottom right part of your screen, and if there's an arrow there, click it. If there's a lot of programs going on there, it might be your problem. Start closing those you don't actually use, and prevent them from starting up next time by clicking start, run, "msconfig", then disable the programs in the "startup" tab of msconfig. Then restart your computer.

And don't just open a lot of programs at the same time, if your computer's not strong enough, it will slow down, freeze, and it's possible you may have to restart it due to it being not responding.

Still slow?

Defragment your harddisk. Disks are prone to failure. A little preventative maintenance can warn you of potential problems and fix minor glitches before they can do damage to your data.Second, the way files are organised on your drive has a perceptible impact on the performance of your computer. If your files are stored neatly, end-to-end, without fragmentation, writing and reading the disk is speedier.

How to defragment? Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter
It can run for a quite some time, so I suggest you just leave the computer on while you sleep.

Still not as fast as you want?

Are your hard disk filled up? Check on my Computer, if your hard disk is filled up to more than 90%, you'd better move the files elsewhere, because it's really starting to hinder your computer's performance. (If using windows 7, try your best not to let the hard disk bar gets red)

Not enough?

Do a registry check using CCleaner. Download Here! Cluttered registry will slow down your computer like hell, and using CCleaner is one easy way to clean your registry.

More?

Do a virus scan. It's possible the slowness of your computer is because of viruses. For legit windows users, you can just use Windows Security Essentials free from Microsoft. Really, it's quite good, and you don't need to spend a penny on buying antivirus.

Even more fastness?

Get a new and faster processor and memory (RAM). Maybe it's just because your computer isn't strong enough for some of the programs you're using, so... it's time to revamp your computer.
